United Way of South Central Oklahoma supports the Long-Term Recovery Fundraising Committee

Tornadoes may be a familiar sight in Oklahoma, but the havoc they wreak still leaves a lasting impact.

The Long-Term Recovery Fundraising Committee, and United Way of South Central Oklahoma as a fiscal agent, have teamed up with Donable® Cares to raise funds for those affected by the destructive tornadoes that tore through the state, specifically Southern Oklahoma, a few months ago.

For every blood donation made on behalf of the organization via the Donable® app, $15 will be donated to Long-Term Tornado Recovery through United Way. This means that each blood donation not only helps people get back on their feet but can also save up to three local lives.

“The Long-Term Recovery Fund was created to provide a collaborative option for donors to help address long-term unmet needs from the tornadoes affecting Southern Oklahoma. With homes and businesses destroyed or severely damaged, many fellow citizens have been left with only what they were able to salvage, and in some cases, with nothing at all. The fund, administered by the United Way of South Central Oklahoma, will provide grants to fill gaps in services and needs that are not currently being met. Our communities face significant challenges ahead; however, we are excited about this partnership with Donable® to help save lives and alleviate the path to recovery and build our communities even stronger than before,” says Long-Term Recovery Fundraising Committee Chair, Alicia Henry.

The partnership will kick off with the Love County Boots and Badges blood drive on Saturday, August 17th at Southern Tech in the Marietta room from 11AM to 5:30PM. For every successful blood donation appointment made using the Donable® Cares link, $15 will be donated to the Long-Term Tornado Recovery Fund. Several other blood drives in Carter and Love Counties will also benefit from this Donable® Cares initiative.

Blood donation appointments must be made more than 48 hours in advance for $15 to go back to this nonprofit.
